Weaver tosses no-hitter, Rangers up 2-1

Yesterday, we all learned of the death of former linebacker Junior Seau. Seau committed suicide in his San Diego home without leaving a note. We all remember Seau from his time with the Chargers, whom he spent 13 years of his 20 year career. Many sports analysts believe Seau’s suicide could have resulted from the head injuries caused by playing football. If this is true, look for the NFL to become the No Fun League, because at this rate the players will need bubble wrap pretty soon.

Gaborik’s goal in the 3rd OT puts Rangers over Caps 2-1, leading the series 2-1.

Jered Weaver pitched the 2nd no-hitter of the season last night against the Twins.  Of course, it came against the worst team in the league. How can a team with Joe Mauer be the worst? Wouldn’t that guarantee you a top 25 spot?

What do you guys think of Bryce Harper? I think he’s very good for a 19-year-old.

NHL Free Agency: My first hockey post

Cogliano was traded to the Anaheim Ducks from the Edmenton Oilers this past off-season.

Hello, my name is HockeyGuru, and I will be writing the hockey stories on this blog. My good friend Steve (@TheSportzGuru) has allowed me to do this. Here is my first post (it’s about the NHL Free Agency period this year):

Money was flying this summer. New faces going to big cities and rookies going to make their mark somewhere else. Personally, I think the biggest signing this summer was the New York Rangers signing Center, Brad Richards, to a 9-year 60-Million dollar contract. The Rangers needed a first line center to be a duo with star right wing , Marion Gaborik. They satisfied their needs. Like I said about the rookies changing cities, one name was a big change. Andrew Cogliano, formerly of the Edmenton Oilers, was traded to the Anaheim Ducks. The Ducks scored a big goal in this trade and I think Cogliano has a big future. Other minor topics consist of Zach Parise staying in New Jersey after a injured season. Also, Teemu Selanne does not retire and goes back to Anaheim. A veteran with his stats has 2 or 3 years left in him if he continues to have those kid of seasons. This summer was one not to forget because this NHL season just was decided on those siginings.

Thanks for reading guys.

Till next time,

Sorry guys this is a little late..Just found this on Youtube:

The Derek Boogaard Case;Death Ruled Accidental

Just 2 weeks ago, Derek Boogaard was an active player on the New York Rangers roster, alive and well. Today, we get a ruling on the nature of his death: it was an accident. It seems that his death was caused by a toxic mix of alcohol and the addictive painkiller

Derek Boogaard's Death Was Accidental, Evidence Shows

oxycodone. However, it is still unclear when the 28-year-old hockey player died. He was found in his Minneapolis apartment on May 13. Obviously, his death is a tragedy and we should mourn for him. I’m sure there will be a funeral proceeding for him. “He was out for the last 52 games of the regular season because of his injuries and did not play in the playoffs. He didn’t skate again until about three months after the concussion” (Courtesy ESPN.com). “The Bogeyman” was drafted by Minnesota in 2001 in the 7th round, 202st overall. He wasn’t much of a big scorer, but he did help his team greatly by backing them up in fights and intimidating the other team.  In six career NHL seasons, he racked up 589 penalty minutes. RIP Derek Boogaard

NHL Player Dies at the Young Age of 28.

I think, as a whole, people are afraid to die. That’s why, when someone does pass away, we need to commemorate them and remember that death can happen at any time, to any one. It does not matter if you have a lot of money, it does not matter if you live on the streets. It does not matter. Derek Boogaard (NHL player for the NY Rangers) was found dead yesterday at his Minneapolis apartment at just 28 years old young. The cause of death is not known, although Boogaard missed all of last season with a concussion. No foul play is suspected in the case. Some argue that Boogaard’s tough guy mentality contributed to his death. We should all mourn for this young man, as he died WAY too young. RIP Derek Boogaard.

RIP Derek Boogaard
